PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

WELCOME TO WATSEKA COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL

WCHS Warrior Team,

I am excited to be a part of the Watseka community and Unit 9.  I sought this position as principal of WCHS to be a part of a great team of students, staff, and community stakeholders.  The short time in my new position as WCHS Principal has affirmed that I made the right decision!  Thank you for letting me into the Warrior “family”!

With our district theme for 2023-24 being “Level Up”, embrace each day as the means to get to the next level while realizing that, just as in “gaming”, we immerse ourselves in the challenge in front of us, tackle that challenge, and move on to the next level.  If we live by the Golden Rule of “treating others the way we want to be treated”, “own” our successes and setbacks in order to move forward, and build and maintain meaningful relationships, there is nothing we can’t accomplish both individually and as a team in order to “Level Up”!

The future will be exciting and productive for Team WCHS.  I hope you all are ready to team up to add value to yourselves, to each other, and to the Watseka community.  I look forward to growing and succeeding with all of you through what has become my life’s motto, both personally and professionally…………”Building RELATIONSHIPS……...to build RESULTS!”

Mr. Trent Eshleman, Principal

Meet the Assistant Principal

To our  Watseka Junior High and High School Community,

After 15 years in the classroom as a CTE teacher,  I am incredibly excited and honored to continue to serve our school district and students  in my new role as the Assistant Principal.  I feel very fortunate to be part of this school and to support the staff, students, and families.

In this new role, I not only get to continue to work with our incredible 9-12 faculty, but also our committed and inspiring junior high staff.  When you come into the WCHS office this year, you will see some new and familiar faces in new roles.  We have awesome secretaries - Lanita Baier and new to our WCHS office - Jennifer Dixon, along with Trent Eshleman, WCHS Principal.

We are all here to learn together and my hope is that as a team, which includes our dedicated 6-12 staff , we can challenge our students to reach beyond their own expectations, to become lifelong learners who will make our community and world a better place.

To help build a structure of leadership and collaborative relationships between our school and community, I am thrilled to be bringing back our Adult Mentoring program this year.  I feel it is so important to make sure that our students feel supported and are ALL given a variety of opportunities to succeed.

Please know my door is always open to help support our students, your children, in any way possible.  Feel free to reach out, call, email or come in to visit whenever needed.   I am excited about the possibilities that this school year will bring; and extremely proud to be part of this school community.

Mrs. Erika Sterrenberg, WJHS/WCHS Assitant Principal
