Board of Education Vacancy

The Board of Education is seeking candidates for the Board vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. Russell Maulding due to relocation. The selected candidate will serve on the Board from the date of appointment through April 2025 when the winning candidates of the Spring 2025 Consolidated Election are seated.

Interested applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a United States citizen

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Be a registered voter

  • Be an Illinois resident and lived in the Iroquois County CUSD 9 school district for at least one year preceding the appointment

  • Not be a child sex offender

  • Not hold another incompatible public office position

  • Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District

Those interested in applying for the vacancy must submit an application by 4 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Applications must be hand delivered to Connie Breeling, District Administrative Assistant, at the Unit 9 District Office located at 1411 W. Lafayette Street in Watseka. Applications can be printed here and delivered to the Unit 9 District Office, or a paper copy can be picked up at the Unit 9 District Office. Applications will be reviewed by the Board of Education. Interviews may be conducted at the Board’s discretion. The official appointment of the new Board member is expected to take place in June 2024.

Upon appointment, the candidate will be required to file a Statement of Economic Interest with the Iroquois County Clerk and complete board required training.
