🚍✨ #SchoolBusSafetyWeek ✨🚍 When you’re stopped for a school bus along your daily commute, you’re following the law to help keep children safe as they get on and off. Even with clear instructions from the driver, some kids might still attempt to run across the road behind the bus out of excitement after a school day. Drivers educate students to never cross behind, but it’s important to stay vigilant and ready for the unexpected. Parents, caregivers, and students let’s keep safety top of mind by reviewing the proper procedures for crossing in front of a bus together. Here are some important tips: 🔍 Stay alert—the bus driver is keeping watch and will honk if there’s any danger. 🚸 Always cross in front of the bus, never behind. 👣 Get ready by waiting for the driver’s instructions 10 giant steps ahead of the bus before crossing. ✋ Until the driver signals, wait, stay put. 👍 A thumbs up from the driver means it’s safe to cross. 📣 If the driver honks, that means STOP immediately. 🚶 Walk, don’t run across the road. Let’s all work together to keep our students safe and our roads secure for everyone! 🚌💛

· 🚍🔍 #SchoolBusSafetyWeek – Let's clear up a common question! Q: Why don’t school buses have seat belts? A: Seat belts on school buses do not offer the same protection to passengers as they do in a car. In a bus design, 'compartmentalization' offers the best means of protection for the occupants of a school bus by forming ‘compartments’ that protect children in the event in an emergency. • 🪑 High-backed seats create a protective barrier. • 🛡️ Thick, padded materials absorb impact. • 🏠 Closely spaced seats form safety compartments. • ⚓ Solid anchoring keeps everything secure. This built-in passive safety system protects children as soon as they take their seat and allows for quicker exits in emergencies. It’s been proven effective at preventing serious injuries, ensuring our precious passengers stay safe on every ride. 🚸✨ Safety isn’t just a priority—it’s built into every part of the journey!

It's School Bus Safety Week! Each school day, millions of children ride school buses. Did you know that the school bus is one of the safest vehicles on the road? Less than 1% of all traffic fatalities involve children on school transportation vehicles. However, children are more at risk when approaching or leaving a school bus. It’s important for all drivers, as well as parents and students, to understand school bus safety.
