🚍🔍 #SchoolBusSafetyWeek – Let's clear up a common question!
Q: Why don’t school buses have seat belts?
A: Seat belts on school buses do not offer the same protection to passengers as they do in a car. In a bus design, 'compartmentalization' offers the best means of protection for the occupants of a school bus by forming ‘compartments’ that protect children in the event in an emergency.
• 🪑 High-backed seats create a protective barrier.
• 🛡️ Thick, padded materials absorb impact.
• 🏠 Closely spaced seats form safety compartments.
• ⚓ Solid anchoring keeps everything secure.
This built-in passive safety system protects children as soon as they take their seat and allows for quicker exits in emergencies. It’s been proven effective at preventing serious injuries, ensuring our precious passengers stay safe on every ride. 🚸✨
Safety isn’t just a priority—it’s built into every part of the journey!

It's School Bus Safety Week! Each school day, millions of children ride school buses. Did you know that the school bus is one of the safest vehicles on the road? Less than 1% of all traffic fatalities involve children on school transportation vehicles. However, children are more at risk when approaching or leaving a school bus. It’s important for all drivers, as well as parents and students, to understand school bus safety.

Watseka High School 2024 grad, Amber Stingley, was honored at the Illinois Art Education Association's Student Show that was held at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott this past weekend.
